Byju’s Journey from Humble Beginnings To Soaring Success
Teacher-turned-entrepreneur Byju Raveendran started his journey in the coastal village of Azhikode in Kerala.
He went to a Malayalam medium government school where both of his parents were teachers.
Then he went on to study mechanical engineering and later started working as an engineer with a Singapore-based shipping company.
During his trips back home, he started helping his friends prepare for the CAT (Common Admission Test).
Byju himself took the entrance test twice and scored 100 percentile on both occasions and got interview calls from the prestigious IIMs.
In 2005, Byju quit his job and started teaching MBA aspirants.
His popularity as a teacher soared and in 2011, he launched his company Think and Learn Pvt. Ltd. (Parent company of Byju’s).
In 2015, the startup launched its elearning app that offered personalized learning programmes for students.
Soon Byju’s snowballed into a multibillion-dollar behemoth.
